Moti KC, PE

Moti KC is the founder and Principal Engineer in charge for Civil/Structural Engineering and general equipment layout. He has over 15 years of civil/structural engineering experience in Regulated Utilities, Power Generation, and High Voltage Substation and Transmission projects. Prior to founding EQUAGEN, Moti was Principal Civil-Structural Engineer/Manager at Siemens Transmission Solutions where he was responsible for the design and construction of high voltage substation structures and applications engineering. At Siemens, Moti also worked as an Engineer of Record (EOR) for multiple substation projects exceeding $100 million. Moti’s prior employments include senior civil/structural engineer at Entergy and Duke Energy. He served as a subject matter expert in Civil/Structural and Seismic Engineering.

Moti has extensive experience in finite element modeling, static analysis, static coefficient analysis, dynamic analysis and time history analysis for seismic qualification of IEEE 344 and IEEE 693 equipment and support structures. He is proficient in utilizing structural programs for the qualification and analysis of equipment and is well-versed in the applicable national and international codes and standards.

Moti maintains his Professional Civil Engineering license in the States of California, North Carolina, and Texas. He is also a NCEES Record holder and can obtain reciprocity by committee in any state. Moti holds Master’s of Science in Civil Engineering from Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, OK. He is an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

Rijan Bhandari, MSEE

Mr. Rijan Bhandari is the Principal Engineer in charge for Power Systems Engineering and Compliance with the NERC Reliability. Mr. Bhandari has over 15 years of engineering and consulting experience in the electric utility industry, the bulk of which being in Generation and Transmission system protection & control systems and Reliability Compliance with NERC's operations and planning standards. Rijan has Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Master of Science in Electrical Power Systems from South Dakota State University, Brookings, SD.

Prior to joining EQUAGEN, Rijan has served as Assoc. Electrical Engineering Manager at the Dow chemical. At his role at Dow chemical he was responsible for the low and medium voltage electrical systems at Dow’s various chemical plants. Rijan also has provided engineering and consulting services to Entergy for its power system protection projects and to support compliance with NERC Reliability standards as the subject matter expert. He has served as Regional Application Specialist for OMICRON, for the North America Region. Rijan was a system protection and control engineer for Eaton/Cooper and Entergy. Rijan’s technical expertise in Power System Engineering include: Protective relay settings design and calculations for generation, transmission and generation protection systems, relay testing and commissioning support, compliance with the NERC reliability standards of Bulk Electric System, generator real and reactive power capability co-ordination studies and testing, and ARC Flash studies. Rijan’s technical expertise in NERC compliance are: Interpretation and implementation of mandatory and future NERC’s Operations and Planning (693) standards, develop and implement internal compliance programs, develop compliance and technical procedures, develop training program and training materials for internal compliance program, develop and support to implement tools for self-assessment process and corrective actions plan, support with NERC alerts, self-certification process, data submittals, mock audits and audit preparation, develop RSAWS.

Bipana Adhikari, MSEE

Ms. Bipana Adhikari is our associate who is responsible for Automation and Communication projects at EQUAGEN. Adhikari has over 10 years of engineering experience in the Automation and Communication industry. Her expertise includes design of instrumentation system, digital signal processing, digital control system, and wireless communication. She supports utilities in SCADA/RTU/PLC & HMI and Fiber/JMUX/Microwave link communication design and testing.

Bipana has Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Master of Science in Electrical Power Systems from California State University, Fullerton, CA.
